Just as nature has its yearly seasons, the Church also has its seasons that help move us through the liturgical year, seasons that focus our attention on a particular aspect of our relationship with God. During the month of September, the SEASON OF CREATION takes its place alongside those of Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and other such celebrations.

Read MoreBeginning this past May, we began a process of selecting our favorite hymns among the congregation of Union Avenue Christian Church. We carefully considered the hymns that resonate with our personal faith journeys, submitted our ballots, compiled the results into our TOP 40 COUNTDOWN, and then we sang four of those hymns each Sunday, beginning in June. We started with #40 and we sang four songs each week until we arrived at #1.

Even before there was a center aisle, theater-style seating, or a massive stained glass window depicting Christ as "the Good Shepherd," there was the magnificent depiction of Christ gathered at the table with his 12 apostles, sharing their last meal together.
