Even before there was a center aisle, theater-style seating, or a massive stained glass window depicting Christ as "the Good Shepherd," there was the magnificent depiction of Christ gathered at the table with his 12 apostles, sharing their last meal together.

ANCHORS AWAY: UNION AVENUE OPERA

More than 40 artists will make their UNION AVENUE OPERA debut this summer. The seven-week summer season opens Friday, July 6, with a traditional take on Gilbert & Sullivan’s comedic H.M.S Pinafore and continue through August 25 with performances of Verdi’s dramatic Nabucco and Kurt Weill’s Lost in the Stars, a provocative work that addresses the weighty moral issues of racism and injustice.

The IVORY PERRY PARK CONCERT SERIES kicks off its sixteenth season with St. Louis' reigning "Queen of the Blues" KIM MASSIE SUNDAY, JUNE 24, in Ivory Perry Park, 800 Belt Avenue in the Visitation Park neighborhood. Ms. Massie is making her third appearance on the Ivory Perry Park Concert Series stage, dating back to the first season in 2002.
