TOP 40 COUNTDOWN

Beginning this past May, we began a process of selecting our favorite hymns among the congregation of Union Avenue Christian Church. We carefully considered the hymns that resonate with our personal faith journeys, submitted our ballots, compiled the results into our TOP 40 COUNTDOWN, and then we sang four of those hymns each Sunday, beginning in June. We started with #40 and we sang four songs each week until we arrived at #1.

Members and friends of UNION AVENUE CHRISTIAN CHURCH have worshipped facing THE LAST SUPPER for the past 75 years. Even before there was a center aisle, theater-style seating, or a massive stained glass window depicting Christ as "the Good Shepherd," there was the magnificent depiction of Christ gathered at the table with his 12 apostles, sharing their last meal together.

ANCHORS AWAY: UNION AVENUE OPERA

More than 40 artists will make their UNION AVENUE OPERA debut this summer. The seven-week summer season opens Friday, July 6, with a traditional take on Gilbert & Sullivan’s comedic H.M.S Pinafore and continue through August 25 with performances of Verdi’s dramatic Nabucco and Kurt Weill’s Lost in the Stars, a provocative work that addresses the weighty moral issues of racism and injustice.
