Our Worship Nurtures Us and Prepares Us To Be Disciples of Christ Worship at Union Avenue Christian Church is about placing God at the center of our lives and witnessing to others so that they, too, may share the Spirit of God that moves among us. Worship nurtures the spiritual gifts and passion needed for our individual ministries as Disciples of Christ. God promises each of us spiritual gifts, and those gifts are to be developed and exercised in the congregation (1 Cor. 14:12). The Spirit of God can move uniquely and powerfully in a body of believers when it is gathered in the unity of worship (Acts 2:1 – 4). Through worship, we experience God's grace and are inspired to act from faith, hope, and love to bring compassion, new life and justice into the community in which we live. In Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. Our morning worship service is an open and inclusive celebration of God's presence among us. We share our joys, our sorrows, moments of inspiration and words of prayer. And then we gather at Christ's table to be renewed and refreshed. As Disciples of Christ, we believe that communion of the Lord's Supper should be celebrated whenever Christians gather for worship.
