FULL TEAM RECRUITED FOR SUMMER MISSION TRIP TO GULF COAST Twenty-five youth and adults from Webster Groves Christian Church and Union Avenue Christian Church have signed up to participate in our summer mission trip to the Disciples mission station in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The group will leave from St. Louis on Monday, June 23 and return on June 30. While in Louisiana, they will be based at the First Christian Church in Lake Charles, and will spend their time working on clean-up and light construction projects to aid those affected by the hurricanes. During the month of May, members and friends will have an opportunity to support the mission trip through purchase of stock certificates sold by the youth. Everyone who buys stock will receive a postcard from one of the youth while the group is in the Gulf Coast area. AN EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY TO NOTE Dr. Marcus J. Borg will present "Christian Spirituality in the 21st Century" from 7 – 9:30 pm , Friday, June 13, and 9 am – 4:30 pm, Saturday, June 14, 2008 at The Mercy Center. Dr. Borg, a fellow of the Jesus Seminar and author of many books, will speak Friday on "Two Visions of Christianity Today." Saturday's talks will focus on "Mysticism, Empowerment, and Resistance." Cost for the event is $100 and includes Saturday lunch.
