Union Communion Ministries

Union Avenue Christian Church partners with two other churches in the neighborhood, Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ and Westminster Presbyterian, as well as other neighborhood organizations to work for positive change and justice in our community. This partnership is known as Union Communion Ministries (UCM).

UCM Goals: To build a thriving, healthy community in which member congregations and neighbors partner to strengthen one other. To strategically allocate the resources and energies of Union Communion Ministries to all forms of outreach ministry, including direct services and systemic change.

UCM projects include such events as a back-to-school fair and health fair for neighborhood children, a community garden, gift baskets give-aways for the needy at Christmas, mentor programs in the local schools, community awareness meetings, and free summer jazz concerts in Ivory Perry Park.  See the video below (featuring Union Ave. member and concert series founder Carla Mash-Duncan) about the history of Ivory Perry Park and the way these jazz concerts have helped to bring healing and renewal to this part of our neighborhood.
