Anita Jackson Anita Jackson is a native St. Louisan, and a graduate of The American Musical and Drama Academy of New York. Jackson has performed extensively both nationally and internationally in musical theatre productions, concert tours and workshops. She recorded with Bette Midler on her Grammy Award-winning song, From a Distance, with Cissy Houston on her 1995 Grammy album, Face to Face, and 1997 album He Leadeth Me. As a background vocalist Jackson has performed with Patti Austin, Mariah Carey, Shirley Ceasar, Tramaine Hawkins, Albertina Walker and Dorothy Norwood. She is a veteran of productions with The Black Rep, including productions of Caroline, or Change and The Gospel at Colonus. In St. Louis, she has appeared as the featured vocalist with The Jazz Edge Big Band and other jazz and gospel groups.
