Here Comes Clark School…continued
On May 19, Gayle Mason, Union Avenue’s parish nurse, accompanied this happy group to the market, making it a healthy-lifestyle learning experience for everyone involved.
Two to three children were teamed with an adult who was responsible for teaching the children how to pick the best produce for the best price. Each child and adult was given $3 with which to make their fresh produce purchases. This learning experience for our neighborhood children was funded by the Outreach Department of our church.
As part of the learning experience, each child was given an activity sheet for finding specific items in the market. The market master met with the group, providing a history of the market and how the market is run today.
This is a wonderful example of how Union Avenue Christian Church is making a difference in the lives of our neighbors!
