Children & Youth
Each Sunday morning from 9:30-10:30 we offer thoughtful and creative Christian education experiences for children and youth.
Preschoolers - At 9:30 AM each Sunday, our preschoolers go to the second floor for a 30 minute lesson centered around a Bible story and creative activity. The preschoolers then enjoy time in our playroom until worship at 10:45. Staff childcare assistants help to supervise the children at all times.
A special children's corner in the sanctuary provides our preschoolers a space to play or color during worship or they are welcome to go to the second floor for playtime following the children's message to be supervised in the playroom by our staff childcare assistants.
Older Children - At 9:30 AM each Sunday, the older children (grades 1-5) go to the second floor for a lesson utilizing the workshop rotation model approach. We teach the same Bible story four Sundays in a row, each time with a different creative approach such as drama, cooking, science, or art.
Additionally, our children are involved in our 10:45 worship service as acolytes, offering prayers, ocassionally providing art for our bulletin covers, and as part of our Peaceable Kingdom children's moment.
Youth - Our youth meet in their own room on the second floor each Sunday from 9:30-10:30 AM for challenging discussion and Bible study focused on cultural issues and the journey of faith. Our group is ecumenical and welcomes a diversity of viewpoints. In the summer, our youth join the adults for our summer intergenerational Christain formation studies. This class meets September through May. During the summer months they join our joint adult/youth Christian education study.
On Sunday evenings (5-7 pm) during the school year, our youth join the teens at Webster Groves Christian Church for our cooperative youth ministry program which includes fellowship, mission projects, Bible study, and worship. During the summer months these activities often move to Wednesdays.
