Strength in Numbers: MCU + CACI + UACC = Power When groups join forces to tackle problems head-on, there is strength in numbers. And strength equals power; power equals influence; influence opens doors; and open doors mean that great things can be accomplished. Union Avenue Christian Church is proud to be a member of Metropolitan Congregations United (MCU) and Congregations Allied for Community Improvement (CACI), uniting with other St. Louis congregations to seek grass-roots social justice in our community. MCU for St. Louis is a faith-based power organization. Its members come from interdenominational, multi-racial congregations from throughout the metropolitan area who are called together in faith to act courageously for our future. MCU is the over-arching organization from which CACI has taken root and grown. CACI is a congregation-based community organization representing 11 denominations and two different faiths (Christian and Jewish) in north St. Louis and the central corridor. CACI translates the broader issues of metropolitan concern into issues affecting our church and our neighbors right here in our community. It is CACI and its member congregations that pursue a public commitment to action. Union Avenue's commitment to CACI and our community is coordinated by a “Core Team” of concerned volunteers whose purpose it is to discover common ground on which to build up our neighborhood. If you would like more information about Union Avenue's involvement with MCU and CACI contact Clela Anderson, our Core Team leader.
