Visit from Missionary to Haiti June 24
Patrick Bentrott, missi
onary to Haiti through Global Ministries, will be our guest for the evening on Thursday June 24.
After the earthquake on January 2010 Patrick his wife Kimberly and their two young children returned home to the United States for some time to re-group and get their children’s adoption papers in order. While in Haiti, Kimberly served as adviser for health care and diaconal projects and programs. Patrick served as adviser for theological education and diaconal projects and programs. This has been a joint appointment by the Common Global Ministries Board of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ.
For Patrick's visit on the 24th, we will gather at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Room for a meal (Union Aveune members are asked to bring salad or dessert) and to share in conversation with Patrick about the current situation in Haiti, his work there, and what need to be done next. Attendees are also invited to join us from 9-11 the following morning as we journey from the church to serve at nearby Covenant House, an outreach to homeless teens. Patrick will join us for this project, followed by lunch and conversation.
To sign up for the meal and/or mission project, please email Brian Kirk at brianskirk at yahoo.com or contact the church office.
You can read all about Patrick and Kim's experiences in Haiti at their ongoing blog here.
