MLK Ecumenical Service January 17
Sunday, January 17, Union Avenue Christian will join with Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ and Westminister Presbyterian for a joint worship to celebrate Martin Luther King weekend.
The theme for this service, to be held at 11:00 am at Westminster Presbyterian is “Activism and the Church: The Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” Our guest speaker will be Katrina D. Thompson who is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History and African American Studies at St. Louis University. Her research and teaching interests include 19th and 20th century African American history and culture, race, gender and popular culture in the United States.
Christian education groups will meet as usual during the 9:30-10:30 hour at Union Avenue Christian. As parking is limited at Westminster, worshippers are encouraged to park on the Union Avenue lot and walk across the street (5300 Delmar Blvd.) for the 11 a.m. worship service.
