POLAROID: Past & Present

There is a tremendous amount of nostalgia surrounding the beloved Polaroid “instant” cameras of the twentieth century. You remember … you push the button and the print is ejected and develops right before your very eyes. The Arts Group of Union Avenue (AGUA) is presently sponsoring an exhibition of works by 11 St. Louis artists entitled, “Polaroid: Past & Present,” in the Gretchen Brigham Gallery.

The exhibition, which runs through August 2, 2009, includes works by Joanne Kluba, Connnie Lambert, Jane Linders, Dallas Moses, Marion Noll, Kay Wood, Marianne Pepper, Susan Hacker Stang, Todd Thomas, and Barbara Zucker. These artistic image-makers manipulate the process to create wonderfully textured images transferred onto a rich and diverse palette of backdrops. An opening reception, hosted by AGUA, will be held Sunday, July 12, from noon to 2 p.m.

Check out Jennifer Weigel’s blog “ChaoticBlackSheep’s Rants & Raves” to read her take on the exhibition.
